Crass Commercial Announcement: GYPSY!
I have been remiss, I know, in keeping the ol’ blog updated, but today I had to share this video, produced by Signature Theatre, in which strippers Tessie Tura, Electra and Mazeppa (that’s me) show you HOW TO UNWRAP A CHRISTMAS PRESENT. Enjoy!
GYPSY opens Tuesday, December 17 and runs through January 26th, 2014. Go to Signature Theatre’s website to order tickets!
Ha, what saucy fun, just what I needed today!
Glad you liked it, Robert! It was a lot of fun to shoot.
Donna, are you doing a cabaret for Signature in February?
John, I was originally scheduled to do one, but then I got cast in BEACHES and its opening week conflicted. Maybe next year!
I like it 🙂 Good luck with the show
First of all I would like to say wonderful blog! I had
a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.
I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head prior to
writing. I’ve had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my ideas
out. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are lost
just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips?
Thanks!
Thanks for your kind remarks! I have two things that help me get ready to write. The first is doing writing prompts or exercises as a warm-up. There are any number of websites out there with free prompts available and lots of good books with writing exercises. Right now I’m using Judy Reeves’ “A Writer’s Book of Days” to get me started in the morning. You don’t have to spend a lot of time on a prompt – just enough to get the juices flowing. The second thing I do is listen to music that inspires me. I’ve created a number of writing “mixes” that I listen to when I’m thinking about plots and characters.
I hope this helps. Writing can be a lonely business sometimes.
